ITU and Triathlon Canada Rules

Racers: It is each racer’s responsibility to be fully aware of the rules.

A link to the International Triathlon Union (ITU) competition rules is below.  These apply to all sanctioned races throughout BC and across Canada.  Triathlon BC has prepared an Appendix to the ITU rules (also below) for additions / amendment to the ITU rules that are applicable in sanctioned races throughout British Columbia.

Please review the ITU Competition Rules HERE. Please review the Triathlon BC Rules HERE.

KOS youth race: There are several critical points related to application of the Kids of Steel Rules. See those HERE.

Wetsuit / Second Suit Rules

If the water temperature indicates a non-wetsuit swim, rules and regulations will be discussed at the pre-race briefing. Please make sure to attend this briefing to avoid misunderstandings about race legal clothing.
See section 4.2 of the ITU Rules for details regarding Wetsuit temperature and distance rules and regulations. Okanagan Lake is relatively warm and a non wetsuit swim is not uncommon.

Pre Race Briefing

Prior to the race you will receive an email regarding the pre race briefing. This will provide plenty of information regarding race logistics, race rules and other info. The pre Race Briefing will be also available to view on the website.

Bike Inspection

A bike inspection is required for all Kids of Steel Saturday Racers and is recommended for Sunday Racers. Safety is one of our paramount concerns, and unless Saturday Kids of Steel Racers have the appropriate sticker on their bike, they will not be permitted to race. We have arranged with our sponsor Fresh Air (at either of their 2 locations) to do these inspections. There is no cost to doing the inspection, but any repairs will be at the bike owner’s expense.
